Delish-i-ous Cooked Asparagus

How to Cook Asparagus

My husband I have recently started the lifestyle change
that we've been after for years and years.

It hasn't been as bad to eat healthy foods
as I thought it would be.
We're eating many more fresh fruits and veggies
and still get our potatoes and bread from time to time as well.

One thing that he was more willing to try than I was,
was asparagus.
I had never bought asparagus before...
to which my husband commented,
"are we grown up now?"

So, I thought that since I had no idea how to fix
asparagus to be edible maybe someone
else out there in bloggy land might benefit from
a little lesson in asparagus cooking as well.

Start by washing the asparagus.
The asparagus has a natural breaking point at the bottom.
Find that point and break the ends off each piece.
Or you can find that part on one and cut the others.
Lay the asparagus on a cookie sheet or roasting pan.
Sprinkle some olive oil on the pieces and make sure each one gets coated.
Then sprinkle on some sea salt and add some cracked pepper.
Put the pan in a preheated 450 degree oven
and roast for 5 minutes for crisp-tender asparagus,
8 minutes for softer asparagus.
Enjoy!

Variations:
You could also sprinkle with parmesean cheese once its out of the oven.
You could grill the asparagus or also boil it on the stove.

  1. Oh that looks good! I love asparagus, and I usually sautee it! I didn't think about baking it. Much easier. Thanks for this!

  2. Love asparagus. Thanks for the great HOW TO Jamie! I normally steam and they lose so much nutrients that way. I will have to try this next time.

  3. I love asparagus and buy it all the time. I roast it in a pan on top of the stove, quick and easy or put it on the grill too. (Stove top is great if you don't want to heat the oven on warm days)
