I will be attending a baby shower later today.
Not for me...but for a friend from church.
I wasn't sure what to make for her...or the little one.
And then it hit me... a diaper cake!
You see Robyn (the one who the shower is for) is a cake lady.
So it just made sense.
So, now I'm gonna show you
how easy it is to make a diaper cake!
What you need:
1 package of diapers 40 ct
(I used size 1 swaddlers)
Rubber Bands
Ribbon
Round dowels
A decoration for the top
Fake flowers
Hot glue gun and glue
I like to use the "swaddlers" because they're soft
and they don't have writing or pictures
on the bottom half of the diaper!
Just roll the diaper and secure with a rubber band!
One you have them all rolled and secured start assembling the cake.
Start with three together and put a rubber band around those.
Then add more to the outside and put a rubber band around those.
I used 13 for the top and 27 for the bottom layer.
Then measure your ribbon and secure around the outside of the rubber bands.
Hot glue the ribbon to itself.
I used some round dowels to put between the layers to help them stay together.
I just pushed them all the way through both layers
(in between the diapers of course)
You can cut the dowels to size if you use a stuffed animal
or something similar as your cake topper.
I used the first letter of the babies name,
so the dowels were perfect for helping me stand it up.
Now you are basically done.
I did add some fake flowers just to make it even more pretty!
What do you think?
Pretty cute huh?!
Come back next week when I'll show you how to make
a baby sock corsage!

Since we havent done the baby thing in quite awhile I was wondering if the Swaddlers are disposeables or cloth? This turned out so cute! I have seen the cakes made out of cloth. I was in a specialty store and she had cute boquets or arrangements in a metal bucket with silk ribbon flowers in it. I cant remember if it was made with socks or diapers.....
