Granny is Ready for Valentine's 's Day

Valentine's Day is soon!
THIS week I spent some time with the grand kids in the central valley. A granddaughter was celebrating a 12th birthday. As usual with 5 kids in the house there was more than just a birthday happening. Needless to say the day of
"The Birthday" there was an older grand child's basketball game.
Everyone took it all in stride, the birthday was strung out over the week.
Ya do what Ya gotta do! No biggie, No brain er!
Six of one, half dozen of another!
So, we carried on. Basketball game was awesome. The varsity girls won their game. It was very exciting. The birthday girl didn't seem to mind, just another day. Besides, she had celebrations as they fit in, before & after the game on Monday, Wednesday night dinner with MOST of the family (yes, more activities) and a slumber party with friends on the (coming) weekend.
Several of our grand kids play basketball among other activities.

THEY are "ALL" use to the stop, go & hurry-up action packed lifestyle.
It really is "the way of the world" when you are a parent or a grandparent!
Anyway, I was ALSO busy; cooking and doing valentine projects. Here are a few of the projects we did while I was in the central valley.
By-the-by, the recipe posting this Friday was part of the birthday dinner....
IT was YUMMY!
So check back Friday for the recipes.
(Found this idea on Pinterest linked to this site...Hellogiggles.)
I made t-shirt scarves for the 7 granddaughters for Valentine's Day. We added some cute watches I found on clearance at TARGET!  Can't tell by the photo but, the scarves are PINK & PURPLE!!!
I found several choices of flowers (@Michael's) to clip on the scarves. Oh and butterflies too. Cute, Cute, Cute!
So inexpensive that I still have "folding money in my pocketbook"; as Granny use to say! For the boys...they got T-Shirts to wear and a watch!
While Raelyn and I were at Michael's, we saw a cute idea!
ONLY I think we made it CUTER! And less expensive!
So we bought some supplies. The project took minutes to put together.
The results were so cute!
You will need:
Drinking glasses (we used wine and champagne glasses),
glass beads (we used pink & red), valentines, drinking straws, valentine notes, white paper roses, faux strawberries, scissors and a hole punch.
 They look like little parfait's
We made them to use as name/place cards at the table. We made a set for each couple in our family.
The backside of the Valentine cards.
 My daughter will love them!
Next we wanted to make Teachers gifts (and others) for Valentine's Day.
These turned out adorable! I had seen 2 of the 4 on Pinterest!
 How CUTE is this?
You will need:
Construction Paper, rolo candy, candy kisses, hot glue gun, scotch tape and a real pencil for marking
Just took moments to make! All the kids LOVED these!!
For my Hubby; I used 3 rolo packages, red construction paper, scissors, pencil, pipe cleaners, scotch tape and valentine tags.
Cover all three with red paper...
Here are two versions of what to write to your Valentine. CUTE!
 A cigar & a flare...
These were fun to make, simple and easy.
Having fun with Style...

Valentines Photo Cards

Getting these printed for the kids to hand out this Valentines Day. I took the pics in my living room, added some texture overlays and valentine overlays.  Once printed we are adding a sucker in their hands.  I will share pics of the completed ones later tonight when they get them done.  I just couldn't wait to share the pics. LOL

Valentine's Day mini photo session

Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day. We didn't really celebrate this year. I'm hoping the kids didn't even notice. We were on vacation and it just would've been hard...plus I totally didn't budget for it so no gifts were exchanged. Naomi will get all the little Valentines from her classmates when she goes back to school on Tuesday though.

I did take my kids to a local park during the first week of February and did a quick little Valentine's mini phot shoot. They loved it, well for like 10 minutes, and then it came to bribing in order to get a few more shots. They had just gotten free ice cream certificates from going to the dentist (does that seem strange to anyone else? I mean I understand the concept...but really). Anyway, the photo shoot was fun and the frozen yogurt was delicious. It was a GREAT day! And I guess sorta like a mini Valentine's Day celebration. Yeah, that's what we'll call it!!

Hope you had a great celebration too. Hopefully next year I'll feel more motivated to actually celebrate the holiday. Here are some of my favorite shots from the mini session.

I LOVE this photo and think it'll be getting enlarged and framed sometime soon!

DIY Vintage Valentines
Remember I got my {PIN}spiration HERE.
I love the idea of printing on paper bags and am going to remember that for future projects and gifts. But it did give me a great idea for making valentines this year.

...What you will need...
Brown Paper Bags (Large from the grocery store)
Scrapbook Paper
Computer and Printer
Vintage Valentine Images
Glue
Scissors
Decorative Scissors

First, cut your paper bag to fit your printer. I cut mine to 8x10. You can always go larger by taking your images to a printing shop.
Below is the image I made up in PS.
Feel free to save it and use for personal use only. Thank you.
Once you have it saved, print it out on your paper bag. Cut each image out with decorative scissors.
Then just glue your cut images onto some cute scrapbook paper. Fill in your message on the back and they are ready to give.
These will be cute to hand out and are so quick to make!

American Crafter

Amy over at Naptime Crafters has been hosting an American Crafters competition. I entered on a whim and discovered that out of 130 people I was chosen 2nd in the audition round! Crazy! I've made it to round three and would really appreciate your help. I'd love to go to the finals...but I need your vote. You can vote for three projects and if mine happens to be one that you vote for I would very much appreciate it.

This round we had to make something "vintage". I really struggled with what to make and when I finally came up with something it came together really quickly. I went with a little diorama and think it turned out really cute! Hope you like it. Would love to make one of these of my house! So if you'd like to vote for me you can do so...here until Sunday at midnight.

This was my entry for round 2 ... snow
San Antonio snow mobile

This was my entry for round 1... valentine's day
Felt sugar cookies

And this was my audition piece!

Thanks for voting and happy crafting!

And the three amazing judges are:
Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous
Jen from Tatertots and Jello
Mandy from Sugar Bee: craft edition

| Valentines Day Trip |

Our Family is spending Our Valentine Holiday in Disneyland this year. We are so excited. So in order to get ready for the long drive and fun activities, I put together a few things.

I found a Valentine Match game at Target. It was only $5. NICE. Thought it would be fun to play in the hotel room when we need a break from the day. I got Valentine cards for each family member and put together a treat bag too. All surprises for them when we wake up Valentines Day! ;-) Each bag includes.... candies, stickers, crayons, new Valentine hair clips and heart necklaces for the girls, Lego pack for my son (didn't think he would want a hair clip, haha), cookies, pencils, drawing tablet and a few other goodies. Oh and I found some Smurfs coloring books for a $1 at Michaels. The kids love the Smurfs.

I also have an activity packet ready to go for the ride. All Valentine related. I am sharing the pages below in case you would like to print them out for yourself.

Have fun with these Coloring Pages. I found them all by googling Valentine Activity and Coloring Pages
