TruKid Review and Giveaway!!

As many of you know I'm on a journey...a journey for a healthier family, a cleaner country, and a less toxic lifestyle. There are SO many things out there to scare a person from even starting this journey. It is OVERWHELMING to say the least. But for me it's all about baby steps and education. My first few steps in this healthier lifestyle journey were to stop buying food with high fructose corn syrup and artificial colors. Since that time we've come a long way and are currently eating a wheat free diet (when possible, we don't worry about it too much when eating at someone's house) and buying whole foods and not really anything processed. It's been an incredible journey and I still have so much to learn but my family and I feel great and confident in our decisions.

Along with making smarter food choices we've also been making smarter home cleaning and personal hygiene choices. I even make my own deodorant! I'm on my way to being "crunchy". I confess that I used to mock people who were "crunchy" and now I want to be "crunchy". But I've got a LONG way to go. Again, it's all about baby steps. While starting my journey towards less chemically filled bath and body products for my family I came across this great company called TruKid. I bought a book bundle and with the bundle received some free sample products to try. The first item that I received from TruKid was the TruBaby sunscreen and we loved it. Shortly after I received my first item I became part of their Mom Tester Community and I received a few other products to test and give feedback on. I have LOVED everything they have sent me. Everything that TruKid makes is made with natural ingredients and essential oils. You won't find any harsh chemicals in TruKid's products. They have a couple of great pages on their website that explain all the ingredients that they use and also explain all the toxic bad chemicals that are commonly found in most products that kids (and adults) use. There's also a great page on sun protection facts which is really worth reading before summer comes!!

Super Cream

Let me tell you a little bit about some of my favorite products that I have been able to try. The first thing that I love is their Super Cream. This super moisturizing cream is amazing. I have really dry skin in the winter, sometimes my fingers crack and peel. I have tried many different lotions and creams throughout the years but have never found anything quite like this. I LOVE it. It's not greasy, there's no harsh chemicals, the light citrus scent is just right and it keeps my hands moisturized for a long time. I've sorta hijacked this from the kids and just carry it around in my purse during the winter so that my hands don't ever get past the really dry stage. I have to order more of this because my first jar is just about gone. And when the kids do want to use some of this special lotion and I am in a giving mood and allow them to have some I don't feel bad or leery about them having chemicals all over their hands.

Sport Stick

Another item that I was able to try is the Sport Stick. This sport stick is SUCH a huge blessing to our family. I know that sounds weird but hear me out. Micah has growing pains...a LOT. Growing pains wake him up in the middle of the night and he wants medicine. We used to give him ibuprofen pretty regularly (well, like once a week at the most) for his growing pains. I would try to just rub his legs to get the pain to go away but it didn't usually work. We kept track of when we gave him ibuprofen so that he wouldn't get it too often but I really didn't like medicating him so much. When I heard about this sport stick I thought it was too good to be true. But seriously people this stuff works. Now, when Micah (or Naomi as she has started getting leg pain too) gets growing pains in his legs and sometimes his arms we tell him to go get the "pain stick". He loves to put it on himself when he's not in too much pain. And it works. He's able to go back to sleep and the pain goes away. I LOVE not having to medicate him anymore for the growing pains that he experiences. And even when I don't always believe that Naomi really has growing pains (she cries wolf a lot) I don't feel concerned or bad about letting her use the pain stick either!! I've even used it on some of my sore muscles as well. Great product. When we run out we will buy more for sure!! So, it's a blessing because it works and we don't have to give Micah medicine for his leg pain as often as we used to anymore!!

Bath Blasts

Another item we've been able to review is the bath blasts. These are little capsules that you run under the bath water that make amazing bubbles and they smell good too. No more worrying about your kids taking baths with lots of chemicals...no harsh chemicals in these little pods! And the kids LOVE these bubbles, they are big, last long and smell good. The sunscreen that we got in our first order was great. Easy to apply. Not greasy and it worked great. To think that I wasn't putting chemicals all over my kids gave me such a peace of mind. And we went to the pool a lot last summer (can't wait to do it again this summer) so it was great to know they were covered naturally and they didn't burn all summer long! For Your Boy - Review and Giveaway

Pajamas are to Micah what shoes and bags are to most women. He can never have enough. He wants to wear a new pair each night. He likes variety and they must be comfy. When I showed him these new jammies that the lovely people at For Your Boy sent for him to try out he was so excited! Like, jumping up and down excited. It may have something to do with the pirate on the front and that we just had a pirate flag at our house when the youth group came over and shared pictures from their recent trip to the youth gathering. And it may have just been the "I got something new" excitement. And it may have been just the new jammies excitement...but really I think it was all those things wrapped into one!

When I was asked to check out For Your Boy I was very excited to do so. It seems that girl things are all around..afterall I do have three girls and it's easy to make or buy little girl things. Sometimes the boys get a little left out. When I checked out their website I was please to see so many great little items for my boy!! They have some great backpacks with the perfect little boy designs. They have watches, shirts, jammies, rain coats, stainless steel water bottles, you name it. They have a great varitey of products with the perfect designs for little boys, from dinosaurs, to trains and cars, to pirates and superheros. Signs By Andrea Review & Giveaway

I am very excited today to share with you an exciting site that offers instant custom signs for your home.  I was contacted by Andrea and asked to check out her "Customizable Family Rules Printable".  I have been wanting to make one for so long now and just hadn't gotten around to it.  So I was very excited to check it out! I immediately went to check it out.

Isn't it AWESOME! I love it and it was so easy to make. Just visit the cool word builder tool HERE and start creating your own! You can add a bunch of rules that are ready to go or create your own rules! I added a couple of my own, but I loved the choices she had.

I also think you will love the different styles offered too! The one I did above is style "Kitschy" I liked the look and I also liked the black background.  But there are so many other styles. 9 different styles to be specific.

Aren't they cute!?! I knew you would love them! Another great thing about this tool is that if you don't exactly love the order of the rules, you can just click and drag them into the order you like. Very simple!

Another great printable they offer is the "Special Dates" printable. It works just like the Family Rules, only you can add in your special dates. You can go to their Special Dates Artwork Builder to make yours. You can choose from 3 to up to 9 dates for your sign. For mine, I choose 8. I added in mine and my husbands birth dates, the date my husband and I got together, our anniversary and each of our 4 kids birthdays.

It's really simple, just pick how many dates you want, then add in the dates, click on create my date artwork, select from 5 different styles, and then choose if you want to get a PDF or have it printed. It's so simple.

I changed the dates, but this is the style I went with.
I love it because it has a little heart with white letters for the date we got together. So cute!

Here is another style I liked. A little simpler. I kept the same fake dates for this example. LOL

Buckalope Elementary: Review and Giveaway

When Sandy contacted me about doing a review of the first episode of Buckalope Elementary I was ready to receive it but knew nothing of the product. I was excited to learn that this was an Educational DVD with puppets. Something my kids love!

My son is a TV junkie...but he won't admit it. But the kid could sit in front of the tv all day (but I don't let him of course...well, not every day ;)). He LOVES puppets. When we found the cat in the hat dvds that were puppets he went nuts. So, I knew he would love this DVD and I was not mistaken. From the moment the episode started with the lively puppets and catchy music he was glued to the tv. He learned more about different careers and how not everyone is made to be a famous musician or actor. He has asked to watch the dvd many times. He always asks to watch the "puppet show".

Bucalope Elementary has a great product here. The puppets are well made and they don't look cheesy. The songs are catchy and well written and the story line was great. My daughter loved to watch it too and asked lots of questions about the careers that were mentioned in the dvd. It was a great teaching opportunity. We look forward to catching the next episode.

My Memories - Review and Giveaway

For the past five years I have been taking an insane amount of pictures. You see, that's when my first child was born. I've been a photographer longer than I've been a mother, but I've been capturing my own family memories in great detail for almost five years. I always took photos of my husband and I when we went on vacation or when we were visiting friends but didn't just randomly snap off 100 photos because my hubby was looking so cute (I don't think he would let me). I have always been the one taking the photos and placing each printed photo into an organized album with care. I have shelves of photo albums and LOVE looking through them. I entered the digital scene full time about a year and a half into my journey as a mother and the number of images of my family skyrocketed. However, the number of photo albums to look through plummeted. The images are stuck on my computer. Many people say, "You're a photographer you must have your photos all over your home and you must have tons of albums". The sad thing is...I don't. And I'm slowly trying to remedy that.

I tried traditional paper scrapbooking for a while and I love to do that, but once Naomi was born my time was cut in two. Add two more kids to the mix now and well, you get the picture. I discovered digital scrapbooking and jumped on board with full force. My computer was very slow after a while of doing this and I got very frustrated with trying to create even one page. I only have one "almost finished" album of random pages from Naomi's first year. So sad. Eventually I just started uploading images online and putting them in a cookie cutter, boring old album just to get them off my computer. This works but it's not me, it's not pretty. One thing I make sure to have done is a birthday album for each of my kids after their birthdays. Their album includes pictures from the party, a letter from us, photos from their birthday photo session and a few pages with my favorite images from the past year. I love doing these and know that at least something is getting printed and my kids will have some way to remember their childhood. Digital media is constantly changing. If we do not print our images how are we guaranteed that our children will be able to access the images from their childhood?

Maybe you have Photoshop or some other digital editing program, I hope you are using it. But if you are like me, it still takes time to learn the program and to design pages that will make you happy. My dilemma being; finding the time to properly preserve the memories that I am capturing day in and day out of my children and finding a way to easily showcase our memories so that we can sit down as a family and reminisce and not have to crowd around my computer screen.

My husband was telling me the other day how he'd like for me to start printing more photos so that we could look through albums again. I was kind of surprised by this but then again not really. I found myself making a list of all the kits I wanted to buy...*shhhh* don't tell my husband ;).

You have to go to the website and check out all the great things you can do with your pages once they are created. Gone are the days of scrapbook pages lying dormant on your hard drive. Once Upon A Sugar Tree | Review and Giveaway

Once upon a Sugar Tree is the most adorable shop that offers some really cute personalized keychains and necklaces. They specialize in custom designs made for you. So you will not see their designs anywhere else. I love that! When you visit Once Upon a Sugar Tree, you will smile in delight. There are so many adorable designs, you won't know what to order. So you will order more than one item!

I was so lucky to find out that I would be getting a personalized bottle cap necklace for review. When I went into the store to browse around I immediately fell in love with many of their designs. I didn't just want to review the once necklace, I asked if I could purchase two more items. I tell you about those in a moment. As for my review item, I received the Minnie Bottle Cap Necklace. I was excited because my oldest daughter's 10th birthday is coming up and I knew she would love getting this. She loves anything Disney. When it came, I couldn't open the package fast enough. Oh my gosh, it is beautiful and the quality was perfect. I showed my younger daughters and of course they immediately asked mommy if they could have one too. They told me their big sissy is going to love it! I definitely buy this necklace again. They would make the perfect gift for the special little girl in your life.

Another one of their products I love is their personalized stick figures. These are the other two that I bought that day. So when I got the above necklace in the mail, I also got a keychain and necklace for myself. Just look at how cute my kiddos look as stick figures. I loved how easy it was to work with Once Upon a Sugar Tree. I gave them a description of my kids, some ideas like the baseball on my sons shirt and this is what they made. I loved it! It was perfect. No changes needed. What is also great is you can order these in black and white too. So if you wanted them simpler you could do that. Personally I think the color makes them irresistible. I love my necklace and the kids think its pretty cool. I love my keychain so much and am going to order some for gifts this mothers day. I know the grandmas and nana's in our family are going to love them.

Once Upon a Sugar Tree even offers personalized photo bottle cap designs. All you have to do is email them the photo you would like to use. They take it and transform it into a beautiful necklace or key chain. These would especially be great for gifts. People love getting something with a photo. I know I do. I have my kids photos on my key ring always. Keep in mind that the more kids you add, the smaller the picture will be. So if you are ordering this for a grandmother, you may want to get more that one. And if you're like me, I have more that one set of keys. So more than one of these would be perfect for me. My mom for instance, has 9 grandchildren and I know she will be thrilled to get this from the kids this year.

One of the designs that I was excited to hear about was one they made for a good cause. They designed this beautiful piece for the Starbright Foundation Inc.  When you purchase this item in a keychain or necklace, they will donate a portion of the proceeds to the foundation. I love it so much! I am going to order these for my girls for their Easter Baskets. I love that it's a little girl kneeling in prayer. I am also a fan of silhouettes, so I immediately fell in love with this design. I just might order these for all my nieces for Christmas this year. I have been wanting to get them necklaces and just have never found the right ones. I know these will be the perfect gifts for them. This design also comes with a blue background. So if you have a little girl who loves blue, she can have her favorite too!

Okay, I have to mention also that Once Upon a Sugar Tree offer Medical Alert designs too! That is something that is great for children who may need medical attention. My kids would have loved wearing these when they were young. My son had a blood disorder for a while and needed a medical bracelet. And two of my daughters had Phebral Seizures until they were around 2 years old. I didn't have bracelets for them and I always carried a medical bag around. These necklaces would have been a nice and stylish way to alert people to ask if there were any medical issues. So I am encouraging those who need them to get these. So cute compared to those plain, ugly other bracelets out there.
