DIY ~ Fabric Softner Sheets

Ever wondered how to use "Dryer Sheets" without all the cost? I have! I found a very cost effective way to do it. I make my own Dryer Sheets. It is so easy.
Fabric Dryer Sheets
What you need....
  • 1 yard of Pretty Fabric (Small Dish Cloths can work if you don't have time to sew)
  • Pinking Shears
  • Sewing Machine (or hand sewing is nice too)
  • Squirt Bottle
  • Concentrated Liquid Fabric Softener
  • Water
Here's what you do....
  1. Cut your fabric into 8" x 8" squares with your pinking shears.
  2. Finish the squares with a simple straight stitch or zig zag to help with fraying. Some frays are okay. It doesn't have to be perfect.
  3. Fill your squirt bottle with 1 part fabric softener and 1 part water.
  4. When you start your load of laundry take 1 Fabric Square and Spray square up to 10 times and toss in the dryer.
  • Put two different fabrics together for a cute look.
  • Wash Squares after a few uses to prevent any build up.
  • Give them as great homemade gifts to new homeowners, friends & family

  6. Oh, my gosh, that is the CUTEST thing!

  7. This may be a dumb question, but how do these sheets really work as a dryer sheet? Do they really remove the lint and static cling?

  8. Hi Christi,

I have been using them for a while and I haven't noticed a change in how my laundry comes out. I love them. What I do is add 3 to my load, I have a big dryer, and squirt them between 8-15 times. I like the smell mostly. LOL Then start. Over time the fabric sheet will feel harder and linty, so you will have to put them through the wash. But as my experience goes. They work great.

  9. OMG, how easy this is. Where has your blog been all my life?? lol I love it.
