Well, let's see we have lived in our house for 5 years now and I think it's time for a little makeover. LOL
I wanted to share what I was going to be doing since I will be posting some tutorials on what I did!
First, although I love my kitchen, it does need a pick me up. The cabinets are boring, pretty but no stain. Just plain ole boring. So here's what my plan is...
I will be taking an interior paint, yes I did say paint, dark brown to be exact. My plan is to paint it on and wipe it off. Um, just made me think of Wax On, Wax Off from the Karate kid movie. LOl Anyway, Paint on, wipe off and then distress it a bit for unique look.
This is the color I am going for...
But I want to sand down the edges to make the original wood come through a bit. I would love to just move this kitchen into my house but that would just be too easy.
I don't have an island in my kitchen, so I plan on adding a cute table that I am refinishing in there too! Although, I might keep it in my craft room. It's just that cool. LOL I will be sharing that tutorial too! I just started and am still in the sanding process, but surprisingly after I got under all the grime and grease (I found it in my dads shop being used as a work bench, ouch) it was tiger wood. So pretty. I can't wait to finish it. I will keep the pictures a secret for now! LOL
Back to the kitchen... I have this huge bar and I have been trying for the last 5 years to find just the right height of barstools for my kids. So I started searching for bar furniture recently and found this great site that has a bunch to choose from. I can't wait to show hubby.
This would make a beautiful addition to my kitchen too!
You can find this amazing pub set here.

Anyway, I am off to get sanding on that table and do my test piece on a cabinet door. Wish me luck!
I am in LOVE with that kitchen!! Unfortunatley, we're only in an apartment right now so doing anything close to that isn't possible :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for the follow and comment on my blog! It's quite a work in progress but I'm enjoying working on it :)
