Our New End Tables

I needed some end tables! I wanted some that weren't ordinary! I had seen some Roman Capitols in Restoration Hardware...not wanting to spend $$$ for them (each )....I had resigned myself to the fact that they would NOT grace my home! THEN...I walked into TJ Maxx...and there they were...for 1/4 of the price! Whoo-Hoo ....I was SO excited....I bought them and took them home. I have large furniture and the new tables were looking small. But I loved them! Then I spotted the suitcases my mother had just given me....YES! I plopped one on top the table and ....TaDah!!! My new end tables were born!
1. Old suitcase, 2. Roman Capitol, turned upside down for a wider floor base, 3. Put the two together, new end table! * I used a piece of rubbermade shelf material between the table & the suitcase...too make sure there was no slippage! Bonus: Extra storage in the suitcase for rarely used items, such as old photographs or souvenirs & such! Like & SHARE this stylish idea today!

How to Easily Decorate Your Christmas Tree...

How to decorate your Christmas tree the Pine Creek Style way...My version is just  that...My version. I am sure there are a ga-zillion articles posted on this subject....BUT this is what works for me...and now several friends, family & my kids are using my method. It seems to work for them!
Every year someone says, "Tell me how to decorate MY tree like that!"
So here is my untrained opinion on the topic. Have fun, enjoy......
I have two trees this year...this one is my Kitchen Tree...
And this is my Living Room Tree...
Start with your tree, check the lights and add any additional lights at this time.
Also place your tree topper on the top and if lighted, check lights.
Don't worry about straightening the branches. Do that as you work and add the garland & ornaments.
Leave the lights on while you decorate. It helps with placement of the ornaments.
Place your Christmas tree skirt (or whatever you use) around the base of the tree.
On this tree I used a yard & a half of burlap around the base. I also placed my cow hide rug under the tree.
I choose large items I am going to place near the tree , and put them in place.
Sometimes, I move them around until I get the look I want.
This year I wanted to use my dress form & maybe a chair.
Next decorate the top of the tree...front
 And back!
Then I add the garland....I decide the look I want then, I attach the garland.
This year I used 2 garlands, burlap and a gold-ish colored shear. Start at the top and work your way around the tree.
On this tree I placed the garland in a diagonal fashion, alternating the colors. I use the branches to secure the garland in place. I make it a little puffy to give a look of fullness & add demention.
Continue around the tree, adjust as needed!
I start with the largest items for the tree first. I used framed black & white photos this year. Same thing for signs and large ornaments. Work around the whole tree. Make sure you look & place items around all the sides. Alternate your pattern while spacing. Secure items with branches.
Start adding ornaments, I try to do groupings of 3, and alternate the sizes. Example: 2 medium ornaments & 1 large ornament. The next grouping could be 2 large & 1 medium. Have fun with it!
Before you start, choose your colors & theme. I like to add different styles of floral picks, but keep them in the same color scheme.
The colors on this tree was silver & gold with a touch of bronze. The only additional colors are the muted old world wooden pictures of Mary & Jesus.
I added a mirror on a low easel and a champagne bowl with scented pine cones.
And a couple of necklaces on the dress form along with a bronze floral picks.
This is a special photo I added this year for my Dad. We lost him last Christmas to Cancer. He shared with me his "love of Christmas" and his decorating ideas. He loved the Holidays!  He made a living as a mail carrier & a fireman. The framed photo is from his special tree last year that includes a photo of him while on his mail route.

Black & White Bedroom...Redo

My White & Black Boudoir
with Touches of Red...
A closeup of the new bedspread in the guest room.
 This was the before look....
I fell in love with this Bedspread...YES it's white! But that's why they make fabric protector....RIGHT?
Found it (the bedspread) at Target on clearance for $35.00!
And it is Cal-KING size!
The red pillow is bright with color vs. the blackish red I had before. The gray pillow was nice to find, it blends well with the gray & white chair in the room.
I also changed out the lamps and placed them on either side of the bed.
(They had been in my office!)
I found this Clock at Pier One and it was LOVE at first sight!
I love my Hotel sign....So of course it had to stay!
There is my Gray & White Chair...The fur pillow had been on the bed previously!
The room feels larger with the White Bedspread, and has a cleaner look.
I think this look adds a romantic feel to the room.
My little lady on the right was a gift from a friend!
She looks lovely donning her pearls!
So few changes, yet BIG results!
My touches of red blend better now...
Reds can be hard to match!

Embellished Lamp Shade...

Embellished Lamp Shade...

I had some very pretty lamps... BUT I wanted to Embellish them!
Just a little bit!!!
This is the finished Lamp Shade! I love how it turned out!
This is BEFORE the Embellishment!
These are the supplies I used. Ribbon & Lace bought on sale....Buttons I had been collecting...scissors and a hot glue gun.
*The bedspread where the lamps will eventually go/live, is white with a large silver flower embellishment! It's going to look amazing when I finally get to decorate! Yeah!!!
It is hard to see but the lampshade material has silver sparkles throughout the shade! I started tying and gluing on ribbon and lace in white and silver.
On a side note: These lamps will grace our new guest room...As SOON as the new garage/office is finished!
 A work in progress....
 It's coming along...
Loving how it is taking shape....
I was very happy with the way this shade turned out!
This photo is with the light on...
Another view of the finished shade.
I can't wait to redecorate the new guest room! Until then, I used another bedroom to showcase the lamp.
