Thanksgiving crafts the whole family can do

Here are a few Thanksgiving crafts that we have done in years past.
These are all pretty simple and can be done with things you probably already have.

Here's our family of turkeys!!

What you need:
cardboard cereal box (or any kind of cardboard)
red, orange, yellow and brown paint
a paintbrush
googly eyes
brown pipe cleaners

Just paint the palm of your hand and your thumb brown,
then paint your other fingers with the red, orange and yellow
put your hand print on the cardboard,
cut it out, add the pipe cleaners for legs and the googly eye and you're all set.

Some corn on the cob!!

What you need:
cardboard
popcorn brown paper glue

Cut out the basic corn on the cob shape from the cardboard,
pop the popcorn and glue in onto the shape.
Cut the brown paper in waves, crinkle the paper and then put
the "husks" on the back of the corn.

And some pumpkin pie!

What you need:
paper plate
brown paint
cinnamon
cotton balls
glue

Just paint the paper plate brown and before it dries sprinkle the paint with cinnamon.
When the paint is cut the paper plate into 8 pieces,

then glue the cotton balls onto the edges of the pie pieces.

See, I told you they were pretty easy!
Have fun crafting...and have a

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
(even though it's still two weeks away).

Recently I was sent the Scandle Shimmering Body Candle for review. I reviewed the Warm Vanilla Sugar. It smells so good. The aroma through the mail package was so strong and once I opened it, my car smelled like I had just baked cookies. I couldn't wait to use it! The first time I used the Scandle, I used it to massage my own hands and arms. I read that some women use it for their cuticles and thought I would start there. I really liked the warmth of the candle. It was very soothing and to have the scent and shimmer to boot, I was thrilled. Next, I tried out this candle by getting my hubby to give me a massage. LOL Who doesn't love a good back massage. The Scandle burns at just 2 degrees above body temperature so when it hits your skin, it's not too shocking. It's actually very soothing. Scandle was designed to give you a healthy. sexy and flawless glow! This is perfect to use on those special evenings out on the town. Just make sure when you use the Scandle you burn it long enough for the melted edges to reach the sides of the tin. This will help keep the candle even and you will get more use out of it. The other thing that I loved about the Scandle Shimmering Body Candle is that it is made from 100% natural ingredients. It will also hydrate your skin. You will love using this candle and have no complaints. I fell in love with it as soon as I smelled it! The shimmer was a bonus. There are 18 different fragrances that you could choose from. Including.... honeysuckle, gardenia, lavender, margarita, eucalyptus and many more. They even have some holiday candle scents to try. These candles are only $22 so they are the perfect price for gift giving as well. The other bonus is that it comes in a travel tin. So take this on the road and give it as a gift too! You will not be disappointed and will go back for more!

Turkey Spinach Egg Scramble

A friend of mine made this delicious breakfast for us after our workout. I loved it so much that I took a pic on my phone and had to share the recipe. I know you will love it!

What you will need...
  • Ground Turkey
  • Minced Garlic
  • Diced Onion
  • Spinach
  • Eggs - scrambled
  • Avacado
  • Taco Sauce or your preferred spicy sauce
Start by cooking your turkey in a skillet. Add in the minced garlic and diced onions. Once cooked... Drain excess fluid. Add in your Spinach and let it cook down. You will need a lot of spinach. We used 3 large handfuls. After that has cooked down a bit you want to add in your scrambled eggs. Continue to cook until eggs are done. Place on plate and add slices of Avacado. Sprinkle on your favorite taco sauce and its ready to go.

This is a quick recipe that you can make that is healthy too. To make it even healthier you can just add egg whites. We just didn't have time to separate the eggs that morning. HA! HA!

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment!

Have a great Monday!

30 days of gratitude

I apologize if you may have already seen this on my blog...

I got this great printable from Jessica Sprague.
I've always wanted to do things like this but it usually
gets put on the back burner and never executed.
I've decided that it's time to actually do what I want
rather than to just think/dream about doing it.

I don't have big chunks of time anymore so
it did take me parts of three days to actually get it all completed,
but I'm SOOO happy that I actually did complete it.
We started naming things that we were thankful for on the 1st of Nov.
And we'll continue till the 30th....and hopefully beyond that.

Please don't mind the cluttered fridge!

We have five people in our family,
so each person gets their own number...
Greg is 1, I am 2, Naomi is 3, Micah is 4 and Hannah is 5.
It's fun to see what each person comes up with for the day.
Naomi has been all about nature...she also said,
flowers, and fruit trees for two other days.
Micah is all about Mickey Mouse and TV related things,
(not sure if he really gets what we're doing yet).
And it's fun to think up what little Hannah might be thankful for!

How do you share your thankfulness with your family?

Trendy Doggie Tutorial

Ok yesterday I was inspired by Elizabeth over at Twelve Crafts till Christmas to get out my sewing machine and make something {CUTE}

So here we have something for the {Trendy Doggie} in your life!

I stopped by Walmart on my way home yesterday from running an errand for hubby and found myself in the pet aisle. Last week we added the adorable {Pennie} to our family. With all my kids in school, I told hubby its a baby or a puppy. He said a baby was easier. LOL Silly boy! He loves Pennie!

So anyway....at Walmart I found these cute pre-made doggie blankets. One was black with white polka dots and the other was the pink with lighter pink bones. So cute. I was going to just sew those two together but then found myself in the material section. I saw this Zebra print and a cute pink with kitty's print. I knew they would be perfect. I wish there were pink puppies, but I thought the kitty's were cute too! Pennie won't mind. LOL

So to start today I picked the bone and zebra print. It turned out gorgeous.

What you will need....
  • Two pieces of fleece cut to your desired size ( I made mine on the smaller side for my mini-doxie ) But also went by the size of the original bone blanket. Just cut the zebra print accordingly.
  • Gingerbread Man Template
  • Pins
  • Batting
  • Scissors
  • Thread and your sewing machine
  • ONE CUTE DOGGIE

First I trimmed the Pink Bone blanket to get all the finished edges off. It had rounded corners and I wanted square corners. Then I cut The zebra print by laying the pink fleece on top. I cut 1 1/2 inches extra around the whole blanket because I wanted to fold over the zebra print so it would show on the pink side. Giving it a border.

After everything was cut I started pinning it into place. I folded over the zebra print once, then tucked it under itself so there were no raw edges. Pinned it all the way around. Then you just run a straight stitch around the blanket. DONE It was so fast and easy.

As I was pinning the blanket I decided to make a lil toy too! So I printed out a gingerbread man template. Cut out two zebra print pieces, 2 pieces of batting for the inside and ran a straight stitch around it. I didn't care for the unfinished look of the edges. I made this quickly and didn't really do it how I liked. I would normally sew it inside out turn it and finish it. You can do that if you like, but since I didn't....I decided to give it a zig zag finish on the edges. I loved it and it was super fast. Oh but before I forget, I added a little heart to one side of the gingerbread man sides. I sewed it on with a zig zag too before I sewed the whole thing together.

I really {LOVE} how this project turned out. And the colors just make me think of Trendy!!! LOL So there you have it. A Trendy Doggie Tutorial.

If you have some fun Pet Projects...we'd love to see them. Link them up over on our Facebook Page and Upload photos too if you like!
