Valentine's Day mini photo session

Hope you all had a good Valentine's Day. We didn't really celebrate this year. I'm hoping the kids didn't even notice. We were on vacation and it just would've been hard...plus I totally didn't budget for it so no gifts were exchanged. Naomi will get all the little Valentines from her classmates when she goes back to school on Tuesday though.

I did take my kids to a local park during the first week of February and did a quick little Valentine's mini phot shoot. They loved it, well for like 10 minutes, and then it came to bribing in order to get a few more shots. They had just gotten free ice cream certificates from going to the dentist (does that seem strange to anyone else? I mean I understand the concept...but really). Anyway, the photo shoot was fun and the frozen yogurt was delicious. It was a GREAT day! And I guess sorta like a mini Valentine's Day celebration. Yeah, that's what we'll call it!!

Hope you had a great celebration too. Hopefully next year I'll feel more motivated to actually celebrate the holiday. Here are some of my favorite shots from the mini session.

I LOVE this photo and think it'll be getting enlarged and framed sometime soon!

Info above taken from Kim's site Red Barn Scrapbook
I was asked by Kim if I would like to review one of her camera straps. When I saw all the cute straps she had to offer, I was very excited to say YES! All I had to do was decide on a favorite. LOL Which was very hard because there are so many cute ones to choose from! I love owls and when I saw the one I chose, pictured below, my search was over.
Isn't it cute?!? I love the ruffles and the owl ribbon.  This camera strap is perfectly made and very comfortable to wear. I put it on my DSLR camera as soon as I got it. It was the perfect week to get it. We had 2 field trips planned at school and 2 sporting events. I received many compliments from teachers, friends and strangers.  We even took the kids to see the Dr. Seuss Art Show at a local museum. I loved the overall look of my strap and will most likely be ordering another for my other camera.

Red Barn Scrapbook offers many camera straps and camera wrist straps too! The best camera accessories available! Just look at these cute ones now available on Kim's Etsy Shop...click on the photo to see more info on those straps.

We haven't had a personal post in a while and today I wanted to share with you some photos. My friend Jen took our family photos this year and I am so excited to share them. They are beautiful! I had a lot of fun making up our Christmas cards with these photos too!

Here are just a few of our favorites!
Love Love Love These! Thanks Jen!!!

We can't wait to take more pics with Jen in the spring. Already planning on each of us wearing different bright colors. They are going to be cute! And this Friday we are taking more pics. Jen is taking our whole families photos. My family, my parents and my brothers. I can't wait to see how those turn out!

Love the Couch and Frames? Found the couch at an estate sale! The frames were found at thrift shops and spray painted for use in my craft room. They all made great props for our photos!

Mixing Colors and a call for brides

I was working with Naomi the other day on one of her little pre-school workbooks. Sometimes I plan ahead and get things together for certain activities and sometimes we just wing it. This happened to be a "just wing it" day and it turned out to be lots of fun and a great learning experience.

She was to color some circles and then mix the colors together to see what they would make. The book suggested to make something to physically show her how the colors mix to make new colors. So, I got out two glasses and some food colors. The first time I added too many drops of food coloring, you only need one drop of each to make it work. It's pretty self explanitory as to what we did. She loved watching the colors mix. She asked me to do it twice for each color and wanted to see if it worked the same if I poured the other color in first. It was a great learning experience.

So, I don't think we're going to homeschool...I'm not an organized person and lack follow through. Plus, I'm trying to get my photography business re-launched here in my new city. So, even though I don't think I will homeschool I will always be a teacher at home. Teaching her things about our faith and the way the world works along with her numbers, letters, etc. I am always on the lookout for great homeschooling resources and blogs and am all ears if you want to share any with me!

I am also looking for a few brides to answer a quick (10 question) questionnaire for me about wedding photography websites. You can be newly engaged, recently married or married within the last year, the only thing is I need people who have booked/found their wedding photographers online. If you'd be willing to help me out, send me an email with the word BRIDE in the subject line and I'll send you the questionnaire. (jamie at jtphoto dot org). Thanks for the help in advance.

Are you a photographer who has started over in a new city? I'd love to talk with you about how you made things work and got started over. Would love to start a conversation and share ideas...again, please email me if you're interested in helping me out and talking photography! I will be re-launching my photography business at the end of July! So excited to start taking clients again. Yay!

At PhotoWorks, it’s easy and fun to share your digital photos online, order high quality prints, and create unique photo books, cards, calendars, mouse pads, mugs, and more. With our American Greetings creativity and your digital photos, it’s easy to make your moments into a masterpiece.
I received an online coupon from Photoworks. I was able to go check out all their fun products and services. I was so excited to order my Photo Woven Throw Blanket. I am big on sentimental things and of course photos. I have a camera on me all the time. So this was perfect. YEAH! I got my throw in the mail and I was so excited. I chose the collage of pictures. So mine came with 4 photos. We had just taken family photos too, so I knew which ones to pick. The quality of this throw is wonderful. The images look just like us. WOW! This is definitely a great photo gift that I would recommend giving someone. Not only do they have great gift items, such as, mouse pads, home decor, jewelry, mugs, cutting boards and magnets. They also offer to print your photos online. You can even order photo books, invitations, thank you cards, announcements and even brag books. Great for “Mothers Day” Hint! Hint! You just have to go see all they have to get the full experience. I love this site and will visit often. Thanks Photoworks!
See what you can get….
Photo Collage Cards… These would be great for Birthdays, Thank You Cards, Christmas Cards or just adorable note cards. I think family would love to get these because not only are they adorable, but you can even frame them. What a nice way to send a photo.

My little lady

Hello friends!
I am so excited to introduce you to my sweet little lady.
Little Hannah Joy was born on Tuesday.
She weighed 7lbs 5oz and is 20 inches long.

We are so blessed to have her as part of our family.
I was afforded the luxury of some time alone with Hannah
and took the opportunity for her first photo session!

And here are my big kids with sweet little Hannah.
Isn't it crazy how my "little" two year old all of a sudden seems HUGE!!??!!

I'm sure I'll be sharing more photos and stories later,
but for now I need to go cuddle with my sweet little lady.
She won't stay little for very long.

And in case you were wondering...
Angela C from Love Being A Nonny guessed the date and gender correctly!!!
Angela, send me an email with your address and I'll get you your little prize!
