Race Track Birthday

Hi friends, I'm back online...and starting to get out from under the boxes. We still have a lot to do in order to really get the house completely functional and organized but it feels good to have most of the boxes out of the house!

It's been great to have my husband home for about a week and a half to help with the unpacking and organizing. My sister also came down from Milwaukee to spend a week helping out! My husband will be installed as Pastor on Sunday and then we'll get back to a routine sometime next week...hopefully.

In the midst of all the packing, moving and unpacking we all got very sick. Both big kids had an upper respiratory infection and eye infections and little Hannah got RSV. Greg and I did our fair share of coughing and feeling lousy as well...but we're all on the mend now!

Today happens to be Micah's birthday! The little dude is 3!!! I can't believe he's 3 already. It's also my sisters birthday and we're so blessed to have her here with us to celebrate these two important people. For a while now I've been contemplating what to make for Micah's birthday cake. We knew we'd have family in town (my in-laws are also here) and knew we'd want to have a small partyish for Micah...and my sister and my father-in-law whose birthday is tomorrow. So, I wasn't sure if Micah would want a Buzz Lightyear cake or a Lightning McQueen cake. More and more lately he's been obsessed loving Lightning McQueen. He got a used, beat up, paint chipped Lightning car a couple of months ago from someone at our church in San Antonio and he has been playing with that car nonstop and asking to sleep with it, etc. I decided to make him a race track cake and get him some new CARS cars. He LOVES it!!! And I'm so glad that's what I decided to do.

So, while I celebrate my little man and my sister and my father-in-law, here are some photos of the cake I made for them all (oh and it's chocolate and red velvet cake). Enjoy the pics...oh and one of my little man doing his Buzz Lightyear face!

Hopefully next week I can show you a few pics of our "new" house (we're renting for a year). So we're not getting everything out, but man moving really does make you realize how much stuff you have! yikes! Have a great weekend and an incredible week!

4th Birthday Party

My daughter turned four yesterday!
I can't believe that she's already four!
She's becoming such a little lady,
(although she still acts like one of the guys most of the time!)

My husband and I debated about having a big party for her.
We usually only do big parties every few years.
We had a few good reasons for why we threw her a party this year...
1)with the baby coming we figured it would be good to spoil her a bit,
before she becomes my slave full-time helper
2) we wanted to say THANKS to the many people who have
babysat for Naomi and Micah (most often without requiring payment.)

So, I just had to pray that the baby didn't come
or that it came early enough to still have the party.
Well, the baby hasn't come yet so the party was on!

I was given a great gift from Kim at The Celebration Shoppe.
I was allowed to pick one printable collection from her shoppe to use and review.
Let me tell you, this was not an easy decision...
but I picked a collection that I thought I could use on more than one occasion.
So, while Naomi REALLY wanted a princess theme,
I went with the bees and called her my honey!

The Buzz printable collection is super cute and versatile.
I made my own invitations using parts of the collection
in order to set the tone for the party!

I used the cupcake wrappers and picks.

And made some labels out of the bag toppers.
I also used the bottle wrappers to wrap the candy containers!
The candy table was my favorite part of the party
(and lots of the guests as well).

I also used the beverage markers on some straws,
I used the napkin rings,
the bottle wrappers
and then picked up my own coordinating yellow and black
plates, napkins, cups and table cloths at the dollar store.

I also made some yellow and black tissue paper balls
using this tutorial at The Busy Budgeting Mama
There were other touches to the party that were fun and special,
but I was busy enjoying the party,
and trying to rest so I didn't get photos of everything.

If you're having a party anytime soon may I suggest
The Celebration Shoppe!!!
Kim will take very good care of you with her awesome printables
and lots of other goodies in her store!
Go check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Oh and here's the birthday girl in the outfit I made for her!

Pajama Birthday Party

My daughter recently turned 7 and wanted to have a pajama party with her friends. No sleep over just a fun night to get her lil girlfriends together for some fun. It turned out to be the cutest party and I just had to share the photos. Who knows, I may even inspire you to host one of your own. LOL

As soon as the girls arrived, they made their first stop at our "Beauty Station" They got their hair fixed, a little bit of eye shadow, super start stickers, perfume and a dose of GLITTER GIRL hair spray. Oh and I can't forget a little body glitter too. Gotta glitter these girls up. Hee! Hee!

After being pampered they got to take their new comb and choose from a variety of fun things (hair clips, candy, rings, rubber bands, ect.) for their goody bags.

The girls danced to some great tunes as they waited in line. They were so adorable.

Then on to the nail station. These cuties don't have their hair and makeup yet. LOL Each girl was able to choose from a variety of polish and enjoy candies while getting their nails done. They loved it!

I loved the set up. My fun friend Debadoo had this terrific idea to trace my daughters hands on paper doilies so the girls knew where to place their hands.

After getting all pampered up with Hair, Make-up and nails polished the girls danced the night away. Well at least until it was present time.

Cass was so excited and had so much fun with all her new presents. In the picture below, she was excited to get not only money but her very own visa card. WOW! Her best friend really wanted to read all the cards. It was adorable. They are always together. In fact we are headed to her party tomorrow.

The Cake ~ a beautiful cupcake sunflower cake we found at Safeway. Mommy was sick and just couldn't do the cake. But loved this.

It was a very fun party and the girls had a blast. I would definitely do this kind of party again and again.

Just had to throw in the crazy pic too!

Happy 7th Birthday to my Sweet Cassidy!!! Love Momma and Daddy!
